What does SEMPOA stand for?
We call our program SEMPOA, the acronym for Sistem Edukasi Mengoptimumkan Potensi Otak Anak or in English, a method of educating that optimizes the potential of the child's brain. We use the abacus as one of the tools.
What is Mental Arithmetic?
Mental Arithmetic is a process or product of learning through Abacus methodology. In the beginning one need to master the basic manipulation skills of the abacus. We use the latest methodology whereby the student is taught to use the two-hand technique on the abacus.
Then the student will begin to learn the analytical skill, thinking skill, recall of memory, visualization, auditory and imaginative skills.
The above requirement is a must to build a strong foundation if one is to proceed further into other higher levels of learning. Mental arithmetic means the computation skills without using any electronic tools during calculation.
The most important point in this program is to help the student unleash the potential of his brain. Once the hidden brain-potential is unleashed then it will automatically help the student in their overall academic performance
